Myth: They Are All Created Equal
You may think that the scar you got when you were skateboarding when you were ten is the same kind of scar as the burn that you got on your hand a few years back, but they are probably very different. In fact, there are three main types of scars including: contractures, hypertrophic scars, and keloid scars. Each of these scars responds differently to treatment as well.
Myth: Over-the-Counter Scar Creams Can Get Rid of All Scars
If you are watching TV late at night and you come across an infomercial advertising creams that claim to get rid of any type of scar, then you know that they must be lying. Over-the-counter creams or even topical prescription creams can only go far and for the most part, the most that they can do is lighten scars. One big thing to know about creams is that they definitely won’t get rid of them; especially if they are really big ones. The best thing that you can do if you want to get rid of your scars is to schedule an appointment with us.
Myth: Scar Revision Is Always Painful
The short answer to this is that scar revision isn’t always painful, but depending on the treatment that you go with, it can be. For instance, steroid injections aren’t necessarily going to be very painful whereas surgery may be while you’re recovering.
