Breast Augmentation Rochester
Breast Augmentation and Asymmetry Correction with Breast Implants
Our physicians serving the Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse area specialize in performing breast enlargement with breast implants, medically known as a augmentation mammoplasty.
Breast Augmentation candidates
- Breast enlargement can enhance breast size for women who feel their breast size is too small.
- After a pregnancy, breast size and firmness can decrease. Breast augmentation with implants can correct this.
- If one breast is smaller than the other, breast implants and/or breast reduction can correct the difference.
- Breast augmentation can be used to reconstruct a breast following surgery such as a mastectomy.
Saline vs Silicone Breast Implants
At our office in Rochester, the breast implants we use during the breast augmentation procedure are silicone shells filled with a salt-water solution known as saline. Our breast enhancement patients in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse occasionally request breast augmentation using breast implants filled with silicone, but they are not approved by the FDA for public use.
Majority of patients today use silicone gel as it is softer to the touch. Options are best discussed in detail during your consultation with your doctor.
Breast Augmentation procedure
Our Rochester breast enlargement surgeons take a variety of factors into account when planning a breast augmentation procedure. We will make every effort to keep the resulting scars as inconspicuous as possible, taking into account your personal anatomy to determine the least visible location for breast implants. Most incisions for breast augmentation are made in the inframammary fold.
The Breast Augmentation surgeon will work through the incision to lift your breast tissue and skin, creating a space beneath your pectoral (chest) muscle. By placing an implant under each breast, our breast enhancement surgeons can enhance your bust contour by one or more cup sizes. If your breasts are sagging, your doctor may recommend a Breast Lift in addition to Breast Augmentation surgery.
How long does breast implant surgery take?
At our facilities serving Syracuse, Buffalo, and Rochester, breast augmentation surgery with breast implants usually takes one and a half hours. When the operation is complete, the incisions are closed with absorbable stitches placed below the skin.
Breast Implant Recovery
The typical recovery after surgery is 1-2 weeks. The patient is given pain medication and muscle relaxants to provide comfort. May shower after 2 days. Wait to travel until after first post-operative check up 1 week after surgery.
How soon after surgery can I resume activities?
Returning to work and activities depends on how physically demanding your work or activities are. This will vary from 2-6 weeks and should be discussed with your doctor. Typically there is no heavy lifting for 1 month.
