Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)At The Plastic Surgery Group of Rochester, we don’t think you should have to “live with” physical attributes that do not make you feel your best.  When the abdominal muscles have become lax, and overlying skin has become too stretched to return to its previous condition, the tummy tuck procedure may be the key to a more attractive body, and a more confident you.

Planning for plastic surgery

Planning for plastic surgery, there are numerous questions that you may have. Most of the answers to general questions like “what can I expect from surgery?” are easily found. What you may not find are tips on how to make the most of your tummy tuck by planning for the most comfortable recovery.

The days and weeks after your tummy tuck are critical to healing, and to your state of mind. Recovery can quickly become a stressful event if you realize, after you return home from the surgery center, that you or your family are ill-prepared to manage this delicate time. Let’s look at some of the aspects of recovery that can be easily overlooked:

The “Recovery Center”

Consider your bedroom, your living room, or your guest-room your own personal recovery center. When you think about it; that’s exactly what it is! In the weeks prior to your surgery, think about the things you would like to have close to you while you may not be feeling your very best. Is there a new book you’ve been wanting to dive into? A new series on Netflix? How about some music that relaxes your mind? These are all necessary diversions that you will appreciate while you have nothing to do but focus on healing.

If you must have a laptop in your personal recovery center, try not to use it to answer work emails or do anything work-related at all. Your mind should be at ease and solely focused on your own needs at this time, which brings up another important topic . . .

Kids and pets are important family members. However, little feet and paws can cause unnecessary stress and, if you’re not careful, discomfort. For at least a few days, arrange for a reliable caregiver who can relieve you of your duties.
