Tummy Tuck? How to Stay Toned

Torso SmallAlthough getting a tummy tuck can make you look and feel like you just received a miracle procedure, the work doesn’t stop directly after surgery. If you don’t already have healthy habits to support your new found flat and taut tummy, it’s time to make some changes. From your diet to doing crunches, these three tools will help your tummy stay firm and toned.

Diet

Just because you got a tummy tuck doesn’t mean that it’s an excuse to eat a burger and milkshake every day. In fact, now more than ever you should be worried about maintaining a healthy tummy by eating right. Although you’re okay to indulge every once in a while (think once a week), try to stick to a diet rich in fiber, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. Also, eating 5-7 smaller meals a day will help you keep weight off better than eating 3 large meals a day because it encourages your metabolism to continuously keep working.

Exercise

If you don’t have a regular workout routine in place, now is the best time to do so. Not only is it healthy for your heart, but working out will also help you to keep your tummy tight. In order to focus on your abdominal muscles, try to do 50-100 sit-ups before bed each night. This is a great habit that will give you even better results. Plus, it will give you the opportunity to work off any extra calories you may have consumed during the day.

Drink Water

Although a nice tall glass of Coke might sound like the perfect drink to accompany your lunch, drinks that contain caffeine and sugar not only dehydrate you but can cause you to pack on some extra weight as well. Instead of drinking this sugary drink, try opting for water instead. Water is a great way to keep weight off because it makes you feel full for longer.

Keeping the weight off after a tummy tuck isn’t an easy job. If you’re worried that you might end up where you were before the surgery, try following these three easy lifestyle changes.
