Dealing with the First Signs of Facial Aging

Facial AgingFacial aging is largely composed of three main components: volume loss, textural changes, and droopiness due to the natural effects of gravity. In some of our patients, the first signs of aging may be noticeable as early as their mid-20s to their early-30s. If you’re one of those individuals, the good news is something can be done to reduce the early signs of aging.

Below are the subtle yet still bothersome early signs of facial aging and what you can do to stop them from progressing.

Crow’s feet – The outermost wrinkles on the corners of the eyes may look subtle but will still make you look older than your real age. Botox or Dysport injections can soften the appearance of crow’s feet and prevent new ones from appearing.

Hyperpigmentation spots – The appearance of age spots or any form of skin discoloration is a result of unprotected sun exposure. Although wearing sunscreen can prevent their appearance, it cannot help remove the spots once they have formed. Laser treatments work well to help skin discolorations fade and promote skin renewal.

Puffiness and dark circles in the under eye area – Although this issue has been associated with a lack of sleep, unsightly dark circles and puffiness in the under eye area also has to do with genetics, excess or lack of fat, and the thinness of the skin surrounding the eyes. Facial fillers have been used effectively to lighten under eye dark circles.
