With spring break here, just about everyone and their family is heading somewhere tropical to enjoy some time away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. And although laying out at the beach or pool is good for the soul, it can also wreak damage on your skin— leaving you prone to sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and even skin cancer. Which is why we here at The Plastic Surgery Group of Rochester, have created a brief guide with three helpful spring break skin care tips.
- Wear Sunscreen
This may be a no-brainer to some people, but make sure that you don’t forget to lather on the sunscreen on your face and body every 2-3 hours. When shopping for a sunscreen, look for one that’s above an SPF 15 which will help keep your skin protected for longer.
- Cover Up
That beach cover-up you just spent a load of money on isn’t just a great accessory to flaunt in front of your friends, in fact, many beach cover-ups are made of UV protected fabrics which add an extra layer of protection to your body. As long as it’s not too hot, try keeping your cover-up on for as long as possible.
- Wear a Hat
Those large brimmed hats aren’t just good for making you look like a celebrity when you’re on the beach. They are also great for protecting your face, neck and decollete from the sun. Plus, because your face is the last place on your body that you likely want to have any wrinkles, the more protected you are, the better.
The number one cause of fine lines and wrinkles is sun damage. If you are going to be spending your spring break basking in the warm sun, try using the three tips listed above for some extra layers of protection.
